Pro-Abortion Groups File Suit on Halloween to Allow Real-Live Partial Birth Abortion Horror to continue

October 31, 2003--

According to the Associated Press, Pro-abortion groups went to court today to block legislation passed by both Houses of Congress awaiting the President's signature, which would ban partial birth abortions. The bill is supported by the overwhelming majority of American citizens.
The bill defines partial birth abortion as delivery of a fetus "until, in the case of a headfirst presentation, the entire fetal head is outside the body of the mother, or, in the case of the breech presentation, any part of the fetal trunk past the navel is outside the body of the mother for the purpose of performing an overt act that the person knows will kill the partially delivered living fetus."
Marie Tasy, Public & Legislative Affairs Director for New Jersey Right to Life, the state's largest pro-life organization, said it is not surprising that pro-abortion groups chose Halloween to file suit to block the partial birth abortion ban. "From the onset, pro-abortion groups have engaged in a continued pattern of deception, using 'scare tactics' and 'tricks' to fool the American people and have even attempted to "masquerade" this gruesome, lethal act as a legitimate medical procedure, but they have failed miserably," said Tasy. "Partial birth abortion is indefensible, brutal, and inhumane. It is outside the mainstream of medicine and the majority of Americans find it abhorrent and want it banned. No matter how many times they go running to a court of law to interfere with the will of the people, they cannot change the court of public opinion which is resoundingly in favor of outlawing partial birth abortion," said Tasy. "Pro-abortion groups might as well face reality," said Tasy, "sooner or later, partial birth abortions will be banned in this country. It's only a matter of time."
