NEWARK, N.J. (AP) ? Authorities are searching for information about a baby's body parts found dumped along with a load of garbage by a trash truck.
Police are trying to determine who the child was and are reviewing missing persons reports, said Paul Loriquet, a spokesman for the Essex County prosecutor's office.
He would not say which body parts were found early Monday in the load of trash, nor how many, saying that is information only the person who discarded them would know. For that reason, authorities are keeping those details confidential.
No cause of death has been determined, but an autopsy showed the parts belonged to a white or Hispanic girl who was no more than 6 months old. They were mixed in with garbage, but were not concealed in a bag or box.
