Governor Sherrill’s “Fishing Expedition” Smokescreen Can’t Hide New Jersey’s Violation of Federal Law – National Right to Life

On March 19, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services launched an investigation into New Jersey and 12 other states for allegedly breaking a federal law that protects employers and insurance companies from being forced to provide abortion access or services if it violates their personal beliefs. NJ Governor Sherrill called it a “fishing expedition.”  You can Read the article from nj.com HERE

Below is NJRTL’s entire quote which is partially included in the article above:

Governor Sherrill can call this a ‘fishing expedition’ all she wants, but New Jerseyans know the truth: she is continuing Governor Murphy’s policy of forcing health insurers to cover abortion in clear violation of federal law. The Weldon Amendment exists precisely to stop states like New Jersey from trampling the conscience rights of Americans who refuse to be complicit in abortion. HHS isn’t overreaching — it’s doing what the federal government should have been doing for years. New Jersey Right to Life stands firmly behind this investigation. New Jersey taxpayers and people of conscience deserve better than a governor who puts the demands of the abortion industry ahead of the people she was elected to serve.
