Cases like the one in Montgomery County, Texas (see article below)— where a man is accused of secretly giving a pregnant woman mifepristone, causing the loss of her unborn child — are becoming all too common.

Similar incidents have been reported nationwide. In 2025, at least four cases involved men allegedly coercing or secretly administering abortion pills to women in states including Texas, Illinois, and Louisiana.

One notable legal action involved Louisiana suing a physician in California for mailing mifepristone into Louisiana, highlighting the risks posed by unregulated distribution.

These cases illustrate a growing pattern of abortion pill coercion.   We urge the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to reinstate common-sense safety protections — including in-person dispensing requirements and stronger verification measures — to safeguard women from coercion and abuse. Women deserve medical oversight, transparency, and protections that put their safety first.
